Hot weather is upon us in Central Texas. We have been busy at Keyhole Farm picking a multitude of tomatoes early this month, along with Swiss chard, potatoes, and jalapenos, in particular.
We also hosted several tours of our facility, including the Tarleton State University Horticulture Class.
Here are a few photos of our most recent pickings. Just click on the image to enlarge.
I have been planting some okra and more black-eyed peas which adore hotter weather and pulling up a few crops that have quit making.
As always, I am eager to promote the idea of using keyhole gardens as backyard farms. The advantages are numerous and the outcomes can be awesome. Any time of year is a good time to start, even when Mother Nature decides it’s time for a tan during the hottest time of the year.
I am keeping this update fairly short due to time constraints, but I hope you will take the plunge and consider keyhole gardening!
